A woman roasted her rich ‘kumare’ for not helping her kid when she had money and had posted jewelry she got online, only for the said ‘kumare’ to clap back and tell the public that she didn’t even know she’s a ‘ninang’ (godmother) to this woman’s kid! Oooops.
Rich ‘Kumare’ Didn’t Know She’s ‘Ninang’
A lot of parents expect their children’s ‘ninongs’ and ‘ninangs’ (godparents) to give them gifts during special occasions, such as during birthdays and the Christmas season. Yet that’s not really the role of godparents.
Instead of being viewed merely as gift-givers, godparents are supposed to be the children’s second parents, helping to guide them in the right path in life. Gifts should just be a bonus, not a requirement.
Jenny Cadenas Torino shared the story of how her friend, name withheld, roasted her for not giving to her supposed godchild, but she didn’t even know she’s the kid’s ‘ninang.’
It all started when Jenny posted some jewelry on her social media account.
‘Kumare’ Wants to Borrow Money
The friend assumed that she’s rich and had a lot of money to spare.
She clarified that she had actually given this friend some money for her ailing kid, but she refused when the woman messaged her to borrow some money.
“Nung may sak1t anak niya, I gave her money (no need to brag how much) tapos sabi niya kinabukasan baka pwedeng mangutang at nung sinabi kong wala akong mapautang dahil priority ang tuition fee, nagalit ang damot ko daw pero hinayaan ko na lang,” Jenny explained.
“The next day ay chat ng chat na naman pero hindi ko na nirereplyan, kasi nakakawalang gana replyan yung binigyan mo na nga e madamot ka pa din tapos hindi pa marunong magpasalamat.”
Jenny also explained, even if she didn’t have to, that she didn’t even buy the jewelry she posted – she just got them for free from Shopee.
She also clarified in her post that she didn’t even have any idea that she’s this woman’s ‘kumare.’
“And lastly, hindi ako invited sa binyag haha. Bigla na lang ako sinabihang inaanak ko. Wala nga din name ko dun sa baptismal pero sige na lang ako since kaibigan ko naman, and tuwing Christmas nag aabot ako dati pamasko, kaso syempre hindi naman na magagawang maging consistent dahil hindi naman laging meron kaya ayun, dami ko na daw utang,” she explained.
“Marunong naman ako magbigay ng kusa kung meron, kaya sana hindi nang oobliga.”
