Not even rain could stop a balut vendor’s dedication to working. A netizen reminded us to be kind to others because some people have to work extra hard in life.

On Facebook, netizen Rosemarie Almontero shared a photo of a man selling balut despite the rain and without an umbrella. She saw how the vendor was already dripping wet, but he continued to work. The image captivated Rosemarie’s emotions, so she decided to buy balut from the hardworking old vendor.
“Masakit isipin na what if tatay o nanay mo ang nasa ganitong sitwasyon? Ayun napabili tuloy ako ng balut,” she added.
In another post, Rosemarie shared that the vendor’s name is Fernando Hernando, a 38-year-old PWD. Kuya Fernando starts walking around the neighborhood selling his balut from 5:00 in the afternoon until 2 in the morning. Aside from balut, Kuya Fernando also sells chicharon, fish crackers, and peanuts. He earns around P200 to P300 every night and gives everything he makes to his parents.

Kuya Fernando’s photo and story tugged at the emotions of many netizens. Many wished to extend their help and support. Some praised and admired him for his perseverance in life.
If you’re feeling down with your work today, may Kuya Fernando’s story motivate you to keep going! Let’s remember that happiness doesn’t always come from easy work but from the achievement of doing something difficult.
