Back in 2020, Nurse Lorraine Pingol became an instant celebrity as she was praised for helping in the delivery of Jeremy Rausa. Mother Jeremy was a homeless woman, and the kind nurse saw her ready to give birth on the street of Osmeña Highway. Despite being on her way to work, Nurse Lorraine didn’t hesitate to help the mother until she gave birth to a baby girl.

Two years after her heroic deed, Nurse Lorraine and Mommy Jeremy reunited on the same street on August 19, a day after the baby girl’s 2nd birthday. The kind nurse even brought a birthday cake for the baby girl. Nurse Lorraine was concerned about the mother and the baby she helped deliver.

“Noong nagkita kami after 2 years, masaya po ako na nakakuwentuhan ko siya nang kaunti—kumusta ka, kumusta na ang anak mo. Sabi niya malusog naman ang bata, mataba, so at least I’m happy to know na okay ang bata,” she shared with ABS-CBN News.

Nurse Lorraine admitted that the incident changed her life. She was awarded the “Bayaning Nars” from the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) and even received international recognition from the DAISY Foundation’s “Daisy Award” in the United States.

Since the incident, the nurse said she would visit the same street every August 18, the day she made the heroic good deed. Unfortunately, she received news that Mommy Jeremy remains homeless and continues to scavenge for food.

“Nakakalungkot din na malaman na ganoon pa rin ang kalagayan ni Jeremy na nasa kalsada pa rin siya, pero hindi po natin makokontrol ang sitwasyon kasi no. ‘yon na talaga ang kanyang nakasanayan, saka ‘yon na ang kanyang hanapbuhay, kaya mahirap naman na pipigilan mo siya,” Nurse Lorraine said.

Despite it all, the kind nurse hopes the baby will grow healthy and well.
