An 18-year-old girlfriend from Sorsogon proves how much she is willing to care for her ailing boyfriend. Ara Hamor Ranas recently went viral when she sold fudge cakes to help pay for her boyfriend’s hospital bills.
What are you willing to do for your loved one? For Ara, she’s willing to give her time and effort to selling cakes to help her boyfriend, Ralph Mendoza.
Ralph was confined to the hospital for a month due to hypokalemia, or low potassium in the bloodstream. Their ordeal began when the teenager collapsed while playing basketball and suffered from joint pains and cramps. Ralph was rushed to Sorsogon Provincial Hospital and later transferred to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City when his condition worsened. The ailing teen lost weight and had to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He even missed his senior high school graduation and will have to continue his studies next school year instead.
To help pay for Ralph’s hospital bills, Ara launched a “Cake for a Cause” to help raise funds. For P70, you get to eat a fudge cake and help pay Ralph’s medical bills.
“May dessert kana, nakatulong ka pa,” the post stated on Facebook.
Because of Ara’s effort, she was able to raise P35,000, which was a big contribution to Ralph’s needs. Finally, after a month, Ralph was discharged and will continue his medications at home.
Many people praised Ara’s commitment to and love for her boyfriend as they sent their best wishes for Ralph’s quick recovery. Ara also defended her boyfriend against those who are warning her that he will leave her as soon as he recovers.
She wrote, “Mabuting boyfriend po si Ralph, lahat ng pinagsasabi niyo against Ralph ay hindi niya magagawa. He waited for almost 2 years para makuha yung ‘oo’ ko. HAHAHA. No ex and gbf issues din kasi wala siya noon. Na-experience ko din sa kanya yung 5 language of love. Alagang-alaga din po ako ni Ralph, he helped me a lot po lalo na sa small business ko Handcraft by Ara.”
At a time when many people believe that teen love is fleeting, Ara shows how far she is willing to go for her boyfriend. May their love continue to prevail through all their hardships!
