On Facebook, Grab announced that it is now offering a free delivery promo with the code LUGAWISESSENTIAL; reminding customers of how riders continue to fulfill their duties and responsibilities without violating a single rule.

In a video circulating online, a Grab rider is seen pleading village officials to let him deliver the “lugaw”, explaining that he did not violate any enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) protocol despite coming to the area at night as he carries food, which is considered as an essential item. The officials, on the other hand, insisted that “lugaw” is “non-essential”.
Grab’s initiative moved a lot of social media users, who flooded the comments section of the post with touching messages of love and support for delivery riders. The company thanked everyone for their kind words.
Meanwhile, following the incident, the Palace reiterated that food deliveries are allowed 24 hours a day and seven days a week even as the implementation of ECQ continues.
