On Monday, Walt Disney Studios teased Filipino fans saying, “The first Filipino-language song from Disney, sung by one of the Philippines’ most powerful voices.”

With the given teaser image and caption, a number of supporters quickly guessed that the post is referring to their idol, who has been dubbed as “Asia’s Soul Supreme”.

Through her Facebook page, the well-known Pinay artist expressed, “I am so grateful to be chosen to sing the first-ever Disney track in Filipino! Tune in on March 5 as Gabay from Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon drops on Spotify. Abangan po ninyo!”

Singer 2018

Few years back, KZ also brought the Philippine flag to the international stage by joining the singing competition Singer 2018 where she even beat her idol and inspiration Jessie J in one of the episodes.

“‘Yong makasama lang siya sa headline, ‘yong pangalan ko madikit sa pangalan niya, sobrang overwhelming iyon. Pero ‘yong ‘KZ beats Jessie J’, siguro sa ranking ako lang ang no. 1 sa episode na ‘yon, nag-rank two siya, pero it doesn’t make her any less of an artist. It doesn’t mean na I’m better than her,” she humbly expressed.

[Just having my name on the same headline where her name is, that’s very overwhelming already. But that ‘KZ beats Jessie J’, that’s only because of I ranked first and she was placed second on that certain episode, it doesn’t make her any less of an artist. It doesn’t mean that I’m better than her.]

And while she did not win the competition, KZ managed to be remarkable to a huge number of international audience.
