Every person, when they hear the word “Tom and Jerry,” first things that they could think of are cats and mouse, and the classic cartoon show. Since its first cartoon series back in 1965, to date, “Tom and Jerry” already has 164 animated shorts, various television series and multiple movies connected to the classic characters.
Recently, Warner Bros Pictures has announced the launching of a new Tom and Jerry film with the first glimpse of its trailer showing the favorite cat and the mouse cartoons in an upgraded graphics. The movie is going to be a mix of classic animation and live action, directed by “The LEGO movie 2” creator Tim Story.
While the main characters, Tom and Jerry, are animated just like the original telivision show, the new movie will be incorporated with live actors in a real-world set. The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Kayla, a young event planner hired by a hotel to organize a wedding the ‘wedding of the century’ at the finest hotel in New York. However, a pesky mouse named Jerry decides to take up some space at the hotel, so she has to bring in an alley cat named Tom into the hotel.
The new Tom and Jerry film also stars Michael Peña, Rob Delaney, Colin Jost and Ken Jeong and is set to premiere on March 5, 2021. It was written by Kevin Costello and based on Joseph Barbera and William Hanna’s classic characters, “Tom and Jerry.”
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, some studios are tentatively scheduling films for showing in 2021, until the coronavirus subsides and audiences will be able to enter enclosed spaces again to enjoy their movies.
