Moments after losing the love of her li
fe to COVID-19, gr ieving wife Katie Coelho found his touching goodbye letter in his cellphone’s note app. Somehow, the bittersweet message gave her the chance to hear from her husband for the last time.
In his letter, Jonathan thanked Katie and their children for giving him the “best li
fe” and told her that he will be happy if she would someday find someone to love her and their children.
“I love you, guys, with all my h
eart and you’ve given me the best li fe I could have ever asked for. I am so lucky. It makes me so proud to be your husband and the father to Braedyn and Penny,” he wrote. “Let Braedyn know he’s my best bud and I’m proud to be his father and for all the amazing things he’s done and continues to do. Let Penelope know she’s a princess and can have whatever she wants in li fe.”
“Katie, you are the most beautiful caring nurturing person I’ve ever met,” he expressed. “You are truly one of a kind. Make sure you liv
e li fe with happiness and that same passion that made me fall in love with you. Seeing you be the best mom to the kids is the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced…. I’m so lucky. Don’t look back. And if you meet someone, know that if he loves you and the kids, I’d love that for you. Always be happy no matter what.”
On March 26, Jonathan was admitted to the ho
spital due to severe breathing issues and, eventually, tested positive for COVID-19. On April 22, he succumbed to card iac arr est.
“Even though he was fi
ghting for his li fe for the past month, I know up until the last second he wanted to make sure the kids and I were okay,” she told BuzzFeed News on the day of his pa ssing. “He knew he had to say something to me because I haven’t been able to speak to him in so long.”
On Facebook, Katie posted a t
earj erking tribute for her late husband.
“I am going to spend every second of every minute of every day missing my best friend. It’s only been days but it feels like years. This lif
e will be way too long and lonely without you. I miss you driving me crazy, making me laugh, making me smile, and just loving me. Knowing I’ll never feel love and friendship like that again gives me such phy sical pain. I don’t want to spend my li fe without you and missing you. I wish I could do this all over again and protect you,” she expressed.
Katie ended the post saying, “I will spend my li
fe wishing I could have saved you. You didn’t deserve this. Our kids didn’t deserve this. I’m sorry, Babe, so very sorry.”
A GoFundMe account was created for Jonathan’s wife and children.
