The newborn baby in Cebu City who was found positive with COVID-19 a few days ago is now free from the dreaded disease, the local government announced on Wednesday, April 22.

Through Facebook live using the Cebu City Public Information Office‘s page, Mayor Edgar Labella announced the good news about the infant from Barangay Hipodromo who tested positive for COVID-19 last April 20.
“The newborn baby who was found to be positive…ang bata is now found to be negative,” he disclosed.
Still, health authorities from the city continue to monitor the condition of both the baby and his mother.
“Our city health department is closely monitoring the condition of the mother and the condition of the baby,” Labella assured.

Amid the threat of the dreaded disease, the Department of Health (DOH) launched the DOH COVID-19 emergency hotlines 02-894-COVID (02-894-26843) and 1555 in partnership with the National Emergency Hotline of the Department of Interior and Local Government, and PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc.
Through the hotlines, callers can ask questions if they suspect they are infected with COVID-19, or request assistance if they have symptoms and/or known exposure to confirmed cases or patients under investigation.
The information collected from emergency calls is transmitted to the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center and other relevant agencies for immediate facilitation and response.
