The local government revealed its plan of strengthening the city’s healthcare facilities.

According to Manila City Health officer Dr. Arnold Pangan in his consultation meeting with Manila district hospital chiefs and health center directors, halfway houses will be built to accommodate these patients from provinces to cut on their transportation expenses. Included also in the list are Specialty Centers for Diabetes and Women Wellness Centers. He added, “We are also planning to create Super Health Centers with vertical housing for our employees.”

With these temporary houses offered to patients, it can increase the chances of a quicker recovery as they avoid the stress of traveling in and out of the city.

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) President Noel Leyco said that public health care will be incorporated in the school’s educational system.

He shared, “The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila has opened its School of Public Health. We need to go out to the communities, together we can establish an effective health system for the city.”

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso highlighted though that this needs the cooperation of all sectors both public and private.

“Kaya ako nag a-assess. I govern with data. I want to utilize whatever is here to spend it efficiently and so that the city government will be guided accordingly,” he said.

He wants people to gain back their confidence in their public health systems.

“I encourage each and everyone of you, it’s high time to collaborate. I want to declog our hospitals. I want the people of Manila to trust our health centers. ‘Yun ang pangarap natin, ibalik ang dignidad ng mga health centers.”
