The brave firefighters, who have been risking their lives while doing their best to extinguish the Australian bushfire, were honored by no less than the international music legend Elton John.

“We should all be in the awe of the work that the firefighters are doing,” Elton told his audience, huge crowd of fans, during a recent concert in Sydney. “There are people out there who have lost their lives trying to save homes, there are people who have lost their lives and their homes.”
In the same concert, he pledged $1 million to support the Australian bushfire relief fund. The singer, who first performed in Australia in 1971, said to see how the disaster has been affecting the country and its people truly breaks his heart so he want to be part of the battle that his beloved Australians are currently facing.
“Tonight, I will be pledging $1 million dollars to support the bushfire relief fund,” he expressed in an emotional message during the event. “This is a magnificent country that I’ve been coming to since 1971. I love it here so much. To see what is happening here breaks my heart, and so we have to come together and we have to fight. This is my bit towards it, and I love Australia so much.”
On Facebook, he shared the video of his short speech, expressing support –online, this time– to Australia. Watch:
