Through an in-game mail, Moonton sent some gifts and a list of safety reminders to Filipino players; asking the latter to acknowledge the receipt of the items by clicking the “confirm” button.

In this way, the message read, the game developers can see if players remain safe after the eruption.

“We’re sorry to hear the eruption of the Taal Volcano is affecting a lot of you. We’re praying for your safety and if you’re (safe), please claim the gifts so we shall know,” Moontoon stated.

It also reminded Filipino players to listen to local radio stations for civil defense advice; stay indoors and shun areas with volcanic ashfall; clean the roof–if it is safe to go outside–to prevent it from collapsing because of heavy ash deposits; avoid driving in heavy ashfall; keep animals indoors if possible; use a mask or a damp cloth and eye protection when cleaning up, among others.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) earlier raised the alert status of Taal from Alert Level 3 (magmatic unrest) to Alert Level 4 (hazardous eruption imminent). Taal has erupted more than 30 times in the past five centuries. The most recent of which took place in 1977. As of posting, the Phivolcs has yet to give updates on its alert status.
