The newly crowned Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa, has touched a lot of hearts during the international pageant with her powerful statements about beauty and women empowerment.

One of the messages from her that moved thousands of people around the world was her final statement.
“I grew up in a world where women who look like me with my kind of skin and my kind of hair was never considered to be beautiful. And I think that it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected on mine. Thank you,” she expressed.
This is not the first time she expressed her desire to inspire young girls about real beauty. In an earlier interview, she shared how happy she was after getting a message from a mother on Instagram, telling her that the latter’s four-year-old daughter was very happy when she won Miss South Africa.
“I received a message on my Instagram from a mother who said her four-year-old was so happy when I won because I look like her and she recognized herself in me, and that gave her confidence that she can actually do anything that she wants to do,” she said.
And hours after winning the crown, she tweeted, “May every little girl who witnessed this moment forever believe in the power of her dreams.”
