In 2010, the whole world heard about the band One Direction, or known by many as 1D. They are one of the most popular bands in the 2010s after being formed in the UK version of The X Factor in 2010.
Even though they did not win in the competition, 1D grew as one of the top selling boy bands in the 21st century: producing multiple hits and record selling albums. they had sold out tours in stadiums and arenas all around the globe.
But after years of reaching milestones, success, fame, and record-breaking songs, the band started to slow down. Then in 2015, while on tour, one of the members, Zayn Malik, left the band and went solo. The original five members became four: Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson.
In the same year that Zayn left, the band released a final album and announced an extended hiatus. Their fans were devastated and h
eartbroken. But even though the band was in hiatus, the four members pursued their solo careers. They even commented that a possible 1D reunion might be happening soon, but still not with Zayn.
After leaving 1D, Zayn has spoken negatively about his time with the band. And things got messy. And after almost five years, the members are still talking about Zayn, but only with a positive note.
In his recent interview for GQ magazine, Liam Payne admitted that Zayn is the best singer in One Direction.
“For Zayn, he loves music and he’s an amazing talent. He genuinely was the best singer in One Direction, hand on h
eart, out of all of us,” said Liam.
He also revealed that when Zayn left the band, they tried reaching out to him, but it never worked. “But it got to a point with me where I wouldn’t know where to begin with Zayn. I hope he has good people around him, but I don’t at this stage think it’s anything the rest of us can solve.”
