- Grab launched “GrabBuklat” which “allows passengers to donate books to selected schools”
- This program will run from September 18 to September 25
- Collected donations will be given to selected schools under Teach for the Philippines organization
Heard of corporate social responsibility (CSR)? Well, Grab Philippines, in partnership with private organization Teach for the Philippines, launched “GrabBuklat” last September 18.
On their Facebook page they shared: “We teamed up with Teach for the Philippines for GrabBuklat- a book-donation drive for the children of Metro Manila. You can now donate your pre-loved or brand new books from September 18-25.”
According to Grab, app users who wish to donate books may do so by going to the Grab app, type “GrabBuklat” as their destination and selecting the nearest available drop off point. The campaign will run from September 18 to September 25, from 2 pm. To 5 p.m. so if you’ve got books to share, you know where to look!
Though donors will be paying a fare, every fare collected from the campaign will be matched by Grab and total proceeds will be used to buy school supplies for the selected schools under Teach for the Philippines. Now that’s meeting your social responsibility, right?
According to Grab President Brian Cu, the initiative aims to help children to become future leaders of the country.
“Through this initiative, we aim to use our technology and community leadership in providing meaningful learning to young minds, and help them be more and do more in the service of the Filipino people,” Cu said.
Moreover, Grab indicated on its website that story and reference books for children ages 6 to 10 years old, young adult books for ages 10 to 16 years old and reference books for high school students are welcome for donation.
