These are the prime reasons why more commuters recently prefer Angkas than other ways of transportation.

And this end of June, good news to the users of this motorcycle ride-hailing service app as it marks the start of its six-month pilot test run on the road.

This was approved by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) last May after the recommendation of the Technical Working Group (TWG) composed of representatives from DOTr, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), and other involved organizations.

The pilot implementation will serve as basis for lawmakers in creating regulations or laws that will cover the motorcycle taxi industry in our country.

In an interview with Angkas officials on CNN last June 20, they mentioned that they look forward to the creation of laws relating to everybody using the motorcycles as “hanap-buhay” such as delivery boys and messengers.

Moreover, they strongly point out their advocacy on safety standards not only for their bikers, but for everyone using motorcycles on the road.

The accident threshold given to Angkas by DOTr during this test run which they need to manage is 5%. To date, their accident rate is 0.003%, that’s why they expressed their confidence in achieving the rate under the threshold.

Presently, Angkas has ongoing re-training process to its bikers, and they also have additional safety conditions.

The popularity of Angkas as mode of transportation was not only because of its convenient factors, but their witty marketing strategies also created buzz for their brand.

In January, they released a music video where they used images with watermarks; indicating they downloaded them for free.

Netizens were impressed on the compelling concept; noting that the brand is affordable to the general public.

The six-month pilot test run will be implemented in Metro Manila and Cebu.
