Graduating at the top of Class 2018 at University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) with the honor of Magna Cum Laude, 21-year-old Kim D. Limosnero was asked to prepare a valedictory address. But though he honored his mother in that speech, he planned to surprise her on Graduation Day by not telling her about the award he is set to receive.
Last June 26, chicharon vendor Rosalina Limosnero shed tears of joy the moment her son’s name was called on stage and it was announced that he did not just graduate Magna Cum Laude but also as the Class Valedictorian!
In his speech, a tearful but happy Kim thanked his mother for everything, honoring her as the Summa Cum Laude of his life for all the sacrifices she did to send him and his siblings to school.
Kim was a bit sad that his father was not there to witness the moment as he passed even before Kim entered grade school. But his father’s passing greatly highlighted his mother’s love and sacrifice to her children.
“To my mother, the summa cum laude of my life, you have sacrificed so much to bring me to where I am today.
Kim, who graduated from Bachelor of Science in Accountancy with a cumulative GWA of 1.256, told his mother that he is dedicating his sablay and medal to her. He also apologized for not telling her ahead of time that he was graduating with high honors as he just wanted to surprise her.
“By passing the CPA Licensure Examination this October 2018, I hope that I can finally lift up the burden on your shoulders and help earn income for the family and contribute as well for the education of my younger brother,” he promised his mother.
Congratulations, Kim! Looking forward to your success…
