Netizen Talks About How PCOS Can Affect Your Life and Women Should Be More Aware Of It

If you are a woman, chances are, you have heard of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS and know a few people who are suffering from this disease. Between five to ten percent of women around the world have PCOS. However, in the Philippines alone, only a few people really know its meaning as well as its nature.

In an attempt to further enlighten people who do not know about this childbearing disease, a social media user named Queennie Thea Sagnip Saragpon shared a very informative Facebook post about PCOS.

Queennie warned women not to ignore their monthly menstruation. According to her, the simplest way to know if you are possibly suffering from PCOS is to check if your monthly period is regular. She narrated how her menstruation didn’t arrive for three months, even if she is not pregnant. She also noticed that she is gaining weight faster than usual.

The concerned netizen also reminded women to be more conscious about what’s happening in their body, especially in the reproductive system. If you feel that something is wrong with your body, visit your doctor or better, an OB-Gyne.

The common symptoms of PCOS include:

  • Irregular period or no period at all.
  • Difficulty getting pregnant
  • Excessive hair growth usually in the face, chest, back or buttocks
  • Weight gain
  • Thinning hair and hair loss from the head
  • Oily skin
  • Acne

If you are not aware, PCOS can prevent you from getting pregnant, especially upon reaching the age of 25 and up. To prevent this from happening, especially if you have irregular menstruation, have a regular check-up. It can be costly now but you will thank yourself in the future.
