Not everyone is blessed with enough money to meet their needs and achieve their dreams but this does not mean that if you are poor or facing financial challenges, you should just give up. On the contrary, this should drive you to try harder to achieve your dreams because there’s also a saying, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Such happened to Christopher Dahn Saliendra who hails from Lucban, Quezon. He recently went viral for posing with a broom for his graduation photo, revealing that he’s finally graduating after 6 years – and that’s all thanks to the broom, a symbol of his being a working student.
The fourth of five siblings, life wasn’t entirely easy for Christopher but when he finished high school, he chose to pursue his dreams of becoming a musician. He became a drummer, vocalist, and guitarist in various bands. He also worked as a tailor to support himself.
Knowing the value of education, Christopher’s aunt offered him an option to become a working student, three years after he quit school. He took up Bachelor in Secondary Education, major in Mathematics, at Notre Dame of Marbel University in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
He started working in the janitorial services department of the university during his first year. The following years, he became an office personnel but his job still entails cleaning up the office. Because he could only get 18 to 21 units so he’ll have time to work, he ended up becoming an ‘irregular’ student.
But Christopher didn’t lose sight of his goal: to graduate from college. So, despite the challenges and frequently being left out of group works because he’s always busy, he continued working hard.
After 6 long and busy years, Christopher is finally graduating from college! Yahoo!
He checked his grades before posting the photo on social media. At first, the post was set to ‘Private’ and was just for laughs but someone messaged him to put it on ‘Public’ because it was an inspiration to others.
The post has since been shared over 30k times but has received more than 217k reactions from netizens who greatly admired his perseverance. Congratulations, Christopher!
