There’s an old adage that goes, “The family that prays together, stays together.”
Well, there’s this family that created a slightly different version: “The family that saves together, goes on grand vacations together!”
On Facebook page PESO SENSE, photos of the family went viral, gaining mixed reactions from the public.
The sender shared that the three kids of her tito and tita started saving 1.5 years ago. They saved most of their allowances and everything they received from their parents as well as relatives.
To ensure that the kids won’t be tempted to take money from their savings to buy toys and food, their parents decided to let them put the money inside an empty gallon of water, covering the mouth and body in duct tape.
The kids soon developed good saving habits that they began putting even the larger bills inside the savings gallon.
The family recently opened their savings gallon and were surprised to find that their savings amounted to a total of Php100,150. Wow! It turned out the kids placed almost every money they received within the savings period, even Php1,000 and Php500 bills.
It’s great that these kids developed excellent savings habits.
They surely surpassed their goals. So, the family chose to go on a grand vacation, bringing their grandma along for the trip. What a wonderful reward for learning how to save.
Of course, there were people who bashed the family for going on a grand vacation using the money they saved, saying the Php100,150 could already go a long way in buying something that lasts or saving it more for the kids’ future! However, many also said that the kids had sacrificed so they can save the money; thus, they deserve the grand vacation. It would motivate them to continue saving.
