Do You Know This Person? A Domestic Helper in Saudi Arabia Needs Help to Locate Her Former Colleague

More and more Filipinos are flying to other countries to find better employment opportunities. A lot of professionals like nurses, teachers, and engineers as well as skilled workers such as foremen, welders, and domestic helpers are looking for greener pastures abroad.

Being an Overseas Filipino Worker is rewarding yet challenging at the same time. You can send your children or siblings to better schools and provide a bigger and brighter future for the family. However, you need to suppress your sadness and occasional homesickness to provide a more comfortable life for your family back in the Philippines.

Looking for Lirian

In order to save more money than paying for the shipping and remittance fees, a domestic helper entrusted her money to her colleague who’s going on vacation in the Philippines. Thinking that her hard-earned money will be received safely by her family, the OFW asked her colleague to hand carry the money amounting to P21,000 and some souvenirs.

According to a Facebook user named Calumba Padon Domingo, a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia named Lirian Flores Banton fooled another OFW for her money. Before she went back to the country, she guaranteed her colleague named Arlene that she will send the money via a remittance center to save on fees.

Cannot Be Located

Lirian used to stay in Mandaluyong but after returning to the country, she moved to Cavite. Also, she promised Arlene that she will come back to work in Saudi Arabia after her vacation but until now, she cannot be contacted.

If Lirian cannot be contacted anymore, Arlene will look for her during her vacation in April. She will also ask Raffy Tulfo’s help to trace her former colleague.

Being friends with other Filipinos in other countries can be very easy, but trusting them, especially with your money, is a different story. It is saddening to know that some of our kababayans are suffering because of Filipinos too.
