“Pilipinas Got Talent” judge Robin Padilla refuted speculations that he played a part on the release of his nephew Mark Anthony Fernandez from jail last month. He claimed there was never a time when Mark asked for help from him.
While at the press conference of a dietary supplement which Robin and brother Rommel will be endorsing, Robin emphasized that he had just talked with Mark at the time he visited him in jail. He claimed there’s no truth to rumors that he asked for help from President Rodrigo Duterte for Mark’s freedom which others have thought of because of his close friendship with the President.
Mark was jailed for more than a year because of possessing marijuana. His case was dismissed in December 2017 and was released from a prison in Pampanga before Christmas day.
When asked about his message for Mark, Robin said he hopes that Mark will be able to change his life and will continue to value what his late father had taught him.
“Hindi ako nawawalan ng pag-asa na iyong tuloy-tuloy na pagbabago eh nandiyan sa iyo.”
“Alam kong mahalaga sa ‘yo ang mga bilin ni kuya Rudy. Nandito kami, anak.”
Mark is the son of late actor Rudy Fernandez who is a cousin of Robin.
Recounting his life inside the prison, Robin said that Mark should be thankful that he’s still alive.
“Magpasalamat ka at buhay ka.”
“Pamangkin, unang-unang masaya diyan, tatay mo.”
“ Pangalawa, kami.”
“Naniniwala naman ako na lahat tayo nakadanas ng piitan.”
Robin was imprisoned for 3 years for illegal possession of firearms in the 1990s.
