Ogie Alcasid became emotional when 20-year-old daughter Leila Alcasid became Star Music’s new recording artist. He claimed it is a blessing and the right time has come for Leila to shine.
In an interview with PEP.ph during the press conference of the pre-Valentine concert with wife Regine Velasquez titled #paMORE in Seda Vertis North Hotel on February 2, Ogie proudly announced that Leila will soon be launching her first single. He admitted that he had fears that Leila will be compared to him and Regine but he believes his daughter has her own music and it would be unfair if she gets compared with them.
Ogie knew that being in the showbiz industry, Leila will not be spared from bashing and negative criticisms. However, he feels confident knowing his daughter can handle it as she had prepared for it spiritually. Ogie shared that they always pray a lot together.
When asked if he gets hurt whenever Leila gets bashed, Ogie claimed he doesn’t get affected by it but would always think about how she would feel about it. He shared that he would comfort her by telling: “Anak, we’re only justified by God, by Jesus. We do not comply with the world. No one can ever say anything about you. In God’s eyes, we are magnificent, we are beautiful, we are created in His image and likeness.”
While being in the showbiz industry, Leila committed to fulfilling her promise of finishing her studies. In fact, Ogie had already enrolled her at the University of the Philippines and would start school on the second semester.
Leila is Ogie’s eldest daughter with first wife Michelle Van Eimeren. She will be managed by Ogie who stands as her talent manager.
Meanwhile, the singer-songwriter is happy to announce that tickets of upcoming concert #paMORE on February 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena are almost sold-out. With him on the concert aside from wife Regine Velasquez are “Concert King” Martin Nievera and “Prince of Pop” Erik Santos.
