Kristine Zhenie Lobrigas Tandingan, more popularly known as “KZ Tandingan” is back in the Philippines after getting the No. 1 Spot in “Singer 2018”, a reality singing competition held in China. KZ won week 5 of the said competition where she performed Adele’s hit “Rolling in the Deep” which gave her a standing ovation from the audience.
On Sunday, the singer expressed feeling overwhelmed with the support given to her by supporters and the praises that she earned for her excellent performance. She claimed she still can’t believe that it happened.
As such, KZ claimed being invited to perform in China was already a big privilege for her as she was chosen among many great singers which made her extremely happy. But aside from that, she got close with her idol Jessie J and had considered each other as “soul sisters”. She said they were able to share stories and their concepts about music and would talk most of the time since they were the only non-Chinese contestants in their group.
Meanwhile, KZ revealed that she had already taped for Week 6 episode of the show and claimed that she did something which she had never done before which she considered the most difficult in her entire singing career. However, since everything is still secret, she did not elaborate more on her performance.
Week 6 is said to be a crucial period for KZ as she needs to get a high average from the combined scores of weeks 5 & 6 to be able to become a regular contestant.
When asked if she feels pressured representing the Philippines, KZ claimed she can feel the pressure but aside from winning, she wanted her “kababayans” to be proud of her for being able to show the world how a Pinoy performs.
“I was just hoping na sana kapag umuwi ako ng Pilipinas, magiging proud sila sa akin na kung hindi man ako makakuha ng top rank, magiging proud sila na ‘Ganyan mag-perform ang Pinoy.”
