Feeling lonely while she’s working outside the country, overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Lyn de Guzman found love in a soldier named Col. Anselmo Tugade, Jr.
The lovers met each other online and would soon grow deeper in love that Lyn didn’t hesitate to send her boyfriend a gift, totaling Php50,000 ($1,000). She promised him it was a gift and that she wouldn’t treat the money as loan because they were lovers, after all.
She first sent Anselmo Php12,000 ($240) to buy a cellphone but when this phone got damaged, she readily sent Php18,000 ($360) so he could purchase a new one for them to regularly communicate with each other. Some months later, she would send him Php20,000 ($400) to buy a motorcycle.
Everything was fine for the lovers until Lyn discovered that Anselmo was actually married! His wife posted photos on social media, tagging his Facebook account. Moreover, the wife discovered their clandestine affair and messaged Lyn to back off.
Shocked that the man she loved turned out to be married, she decided to back off in respect of his wife and kids but she wanted her money back. After all, it was a gift when she thought they were real lovers but now that she discovered he was married, she wants the money back – but the soldier wouldn’t give back the money, saying she was the one who promised it wasn’t a loan at all.
Feeling helpless, Lyn decided to seek help from Raffy Tulfo. On the teleradyo show, Anselmo claimed that Lyn knew he was married and was satisfied that she would just be his mistress; thus, he does not want to pay her back because she knew his civil status all along! Hmmmm.
