The family of a patient who was allegedly ‘ignored’ by his doctor expressed their anger on social media after the said physician continued to charge them with a high PF (professional fees) even if he didn’t actually show up at the hospital.
Netizen Anthony Balando (Facebook user James Anthony Reid) shared how he rushed his uncle Elieser Amores to Tanay General Hospital last July 21 under the order of a certain Dr. Raymon Roxas at around 9 AM.
They arrived at the emergency room of the said hospital at 11:30 AM, with the patient still able to talk, eat, and open his eyes.
Balando revealed that his uncle had brain bypass due to a benign tumor but they had to wait until 4 PM at the ER because there was no room available at the hospital. With the patient’s body balance becoming unstable, he would soon be unable to talk, eat, or even open his eyes. Amores would later develop fever, possibly due to an infection.
But 24 hours after Amores was confined, the doctor still hasn’t arrived at the hospital to check on him. According to Balando, his uncle started having seizures every 5 to 10 minutes. Alarmed, they asked the hospital staff to call the doctor but he alleged that a nurse told them the doctor couldn’t be there yet as he had to go to church with his family.
Angered over this statement and feeling concerned over their patient’s deteriorating condition, the family decided to move him to a different hospital but they were shocked to receive the bill which amounted to over Php13,000 ($260) for the 24-hour confinement!
It angered them even more to see that Php3,000 ($60) of the bill was for the doctor’s PF even if he didn’t actually show up at the hospital. The family felt that the doctor didn’t deserve to be paid such a huge amount because he had shown indifference over their patient and didn’t even bother to go to the hospital despite the patient’s critical condition.
The family is now planning to file charges against the doctor and the hospital…
