It’s been days since Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel was allegedly murdered and thrown out to sea by her husband but her relatives remain positive they would find her body even if reports surfaced that she was tied to rocks so she would sink to the bottom of the sea.
Search and retrieval operations continue at sea, with divers also employed to scour the area for signs of her body. Some of her relatives joined in the search, including her cousin, Oscar Bendong.
Last June 15, while out in the middle of the sea around Caubian Island with operatives from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, a black butterfly appeared in front of Bendong.
It brought tears to many people’s eyes because in the Philippines, black butterflies are often regarded as spirits of the dead appearing in a different form.
While many would scoff at that idea, a lot of netizens believe the black butterfly could be the spirit of the late mayor. After all, how often do you see a butterfly in the middle of the sea? Also, there were a lot of people in that search mission yet the creature chose to go towards Bendong, the mayor’s cousin!
It was the seventh day of the mission to find Mayor Boniel’s body but no signs have been found yet. Could this butterfly really be her spirit? What do you think might be her message?
