There has been a spate of earthquakes in Mindanao and other parts of the Philippines in recent months. After the last series of tremors in and around Sultan Kudarat in Mindanao, southern Philippines, another strange deep sea creature surfaced.
Netizens couldn’t help but wonder whether this could mean that more earthquakes are coming to the region or if this strange creature just went to the surface because of the first quakes.
According to Facebook page OFW Kalingawan, the creature was found at the beach after a magnitude 5 earthquake hit the town of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
They estimate the creature to be around 3 meters long; it weighed 20 kg.

Many netizens tried to identify the creature, saying that it could be an eel. Others said this could a relative of the oar fish which is also a deep sea creature which had figured in recent news after sightings coincided with impending earthquakes.
Others simply joked that they don’t know what kind of sea creature the man was holding but they were quite sure that it would taste good in adobo or some other Pinoy dish. But there were also those who told the man to put the animal back in the ocean as it could still survive if the people don’t take it out just to get some selfies taken…
