Netizens are abuzz over the video of New Manila Bay City of Pearl, China’s reported biggest project in the Philippines that will transform Manila Bay into a smart city. Tagged as a city within a city, New Manila Bay City of Pearl will be the first smart city in Southeast Asia that will use renewable sources of energy like solar and tidal power for effective energy production and consumption.

A report by Skyscraper City revealed that the said project was orchestrated by UAA Kinming Group Development Corporation a few years ago. After years of planning and negotiating, the said project allegedly got its approval from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their bilateral talks held last year in Beijing. In addition, former Philippine President and current Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada has apparently gave the thumbs up on the project.
