79-Year-Old Grandmother Inspires Netizens after Completing Grade 10

“You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream”.

This famous quote by British novelist C.S. Lewis was epitomized by a 79-year-old grandmother from the Philippines who recently completed Grade 10 or junior high school. Photos of Salvacion Nacario clad in her school uniform during her moving up ceremony at Fort Bonifacio High School  immediately went viral on social media.

Nacario, who granted an interview with DZMM, said she had to stop going to school because her family moved places often as her father, who was a soldier, was assigned in various places.

“Kung saan madestino ang tatay ko, kasama kami. Mula Cavite, Laguna, pa-ikot yan hanggang Quezon province at Bicol kaya patigil-tigil ako,” Nacario said.

After half of her 16 siblings died during the Japanese occupation, Nacario was given the duty to help care for her surviving siblings, composed mostly of males.
