The Philippines Wins Medal in Ice Hockey at 2017 Asian Winter Games

The Philippines has sent a total of twenty nine athletes to the recently concluded 2017 Asian Winter Games held in in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from February 19 to 26, 2017.

While the Philippines did not make it to the top spots in the games, the country was able to snag a bronze medal for ice hockey! That alone is a huge achievement, considering that the Philippines is a tropical country where snow and ice could only be found inside skating rinks at a handful of malls!

So, when news got out that the Philippines knocked China off third place in Division 2 of the competition, it was met with amazement and cheers in the Pinoy community. After all, this is the first time the country is competing in ice hockey.

A lot of netizens couldn’t even believe that the country has its own ice hockey team!

Scout Mag Philippines congratulates the team coach Daniel Brodan, assistant coach Adam Richtar, and equipment manager Gaelen Hallenbeck for leading the team.
