Nurse-Turned-Cop from Tacloban Wins Miss PNP

PO1 Arla Ray Paciencia, a 24-year old registered nurse who became a cop, became the first ever titleholder of the Philippine National Police’s “Ganda Pulis: Miss PNP 2017” during the pageant’s coronation night held at Camp Crame.

The lass from San Jose in Tacloban City, Leyte but currently assigned at the Eastern Visayas Police Regional Office (PRO-8), bested 26 candidates from other PNP offices.

Completing the Ganda Pulis: Miss PNP 2017 top five are PO1 Nova Em Lago from Davao Police Regional Office, PO1 Leizel Abejero from Zamboanga Police Regional Office, PO1 Bernie Jane Dela Cruz from Central Luzon Police Regional Office, and PO1 Jane Etang from the Caraga Police Regional Office.

Dela Cruz also won the Best Traditional Costume Award.

The People’s Choice was awarded to Inspector Jelyn Canas of the Special Action Force for having the most number of Facebook likes and shares.

The “Ganda Pulis: Miss PNP 2017” was held as part of PNP’s observance of National Women’s Month. The pageant recognizes the role of women in the police force, leadership, and social responsibility. It also strengthens advocacy towards issues concerning women.

The winners were chosen based on the following criteria: Ganda sa Paningin, 40 percent; Ganda ng Kalooban, 25 percent; Talentado, 20 percent, and Ganda sa Sarili or Confidence, 15 percent.

Invited to act as judges for the competition are 2015 Misters First Runner Up DonMcgyver Cochico, Miss Philippines-Earth 2015 finalist Police Inspector Sofia Lauren Deliu, and Mr. International 2014 PO2 Mariano ‘Neil Perez’ Flormata Jr.
