Janella Salvador Loses over Php100,000 Because of Phishing

“Ang kaduda-duda dito ay same amount, same date, same name tapos paulit-ulit ng tatlong beses, parang sa isang araw, tatlong transactions…”

Jenine Desiderio was still laughing on the ABS-CBN interview despite the tragic incident that happened to her daughter’s debit card which she just discovered last week.

Janine Salvador allegedly lost over Php110,000 from her debit card. Her bank statement showed that there were transactions in Japan when clearly she and her family are in the Philippines at the time.

She said on an ABS-CBN interview that she was deeply saddened and disappointed about what had happened; she didn’t expect that this will happen to her as she was really careful about her personal information.

They didn’t notice the transaction happened as the bank sent the statement late and the card itself is not enrolled in the online banking; furthermore, the card had active transactions by the family.

Metrobank released a statement that the incident of Salvador is on their priority list and they are already investigating what had happened.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said that they are catering to incidents such as unauthorized bank transactions. They also advised everyone to check their bank statements and report to them immediately if there are illegal transactions.
