Diligent Security Guard, Still on Duty Hours before He Graduates ‘Cum Laude’ from School He Guards

The inspiring security guard who went viral for graduating cum laude from the school he guards has amazed netizens with his story. Amazingly, this hardworking security was still spotted at work last night, taking the full duty shift even though it was hours before his graduation! What a truly dedicated worker… You will surely be more in awe with this hardworking man when you read more about his life.

Erwin Valmoria Macua, 38, hasn’t missed a day at work (or school!) despite working the 7PM to 7AM shift, getting only a couple hours of rest each day as he attends classes from 7:30AM to 4PM.

He wouldn’t go absent from work as he is paid on a “no work, no pay” basis – and he refused to be absent in class as he wanted to graduate and finish his studies as soon as possible.

It’s no work, no pay. My salary here has been helping support not just my studies but as well as my family,” Macua revealed.

But despite the hardships he faced, Macua became a consistent Dean’s Lister since his first year college in 2013.

When he decided to get back to school, he chose to take up a baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education (BeEd).

I want to inspire them [his future students]; that they need to give back to their parents. That will be the best reward to them,” he explained.

Pushing himself to the limit, the father of three felt guilty at times that he couldn’t spend much time with his family.

Thankfully, instead of hating him, they loved and supported him even more! His eldest son, 17, a Cebu City scholar taking up Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at the University of Cebu, would help him with his papers and projects in school. The other boy, 16, studies at Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School and also helps his dad in his studies.

So, his boys became his study buddies! They turned those precious study hours into bonding moments together! It really was the sweetest thing…

His wife Irene also helped him make his projects as well as earn a living by running a sari-sari store at home while taking care of their youngest, a baby just 10 months old.

“I am very happy that my family, my wife is very understanding,” he revealed.

All their hard work and sacrifices had paid off. Today, at 3PM, Macua will join the other graduates of Saint Theresa’s College in Cebu City in receiving their diplomas as he finished his course as cum laude.

He’s definitely going to be one of the proudest and happiest graduates today as his graduation day will be attended not just by his wife and kids but also his parents and five siblings who came all the way from Bohol to cheer him on as he receives his diploma!

We all know that Sir Erwin Valmoria Macua will be a wonderful and inspiring teacher one day… Congratulations to you, Sir!
