The first batch of nurses have already been working in Germany in what is dubbed as the ‘Triple Win Project’, a project that helps provide jobs for Filipino nurses in Germany via the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the German Federal Employment Agency (BA), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

But while they are receiving a fat paycheck in this new job, the first batch of Pinoy nurses also agree that they also experienced plenty of struggles in Germany, what with the language barrier as well as the differences in the culture of Filipinos and Germans.

Aside from studying for a year to learn conversational German, the Pinoy nurses also have to study another year to learn the medical terms used in Germany. But that really is just part and parcel of their new job in this new country.

The climate is also something that they have to get accustomed to but the overall rewards of the job are still great, especially because they have experienced pride in being told that Filipinos are preferred in Germany due to their reputation for being caring nurses who also easily learn the language in the place.

Jimmy Carpon, Jr. and Kenjie Sauler share some of the struggles and rewards their experienced as nurses in Germany in this report by GMA News:
