Tourism Department Pushes for Cheaper Tour and Resort Prices so Pinoys Can Also Enjoy Local Sights

Have you ever noticed how tour packages, plane fares, and resort prices are so expensive that most Filipinos could not afford to take a tour of our own country because the prices are too high for our pockets?

Many call these “pang-foreigner”, meaning the prices are fit for foreigners who actually praise the Philippines for having a lot of cheap tourist spots – but while the price is ‘cheap’ for them, it is actually expensive for Filipinos!

This is the reason why many Filipinos are strangers to their own country while the richer ones prefer going abroad because they can visit other countries with the same amount they have to shell out visiting local tourist spots!

To make traveling in the Philippines more Filipino-friendly, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is pushing for cheaper tour and resort prices. They hope that this would encourage more Filipinos to travel in our local sights and attractions.

Do you think that’s a good idea?
