A group of patrolling policemen spotted several people surrounding a 91-year-old man along EDSA at Barangay Barangka Ilaya in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila in the Philippines at around 5:30 PM on Monday, February 27.
They quickly went to the group to investigate the matter and discovered that the old man had drawn the attention of several people because he was carrying lots of money on his hands and in the pockets of his pants.
When asked, the grandpa seemed confused about his name and where he is from. According to the old man, he was carrying a huge sum of money because he was going to bet that in a cockfight but because parts of his story did not correlate, the cops suspect that he was confused and possibly has memory problems.
He was brought to the nearest barangay hall so he could be identified and the money accounted for. According to ABS-CBN News, the old man was carrying about 300 dollar bills amounting to Php1.3 million plus several peso bills amounting to Php276,000.
