Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has been president of the Philippines for close to 6 months now – and a lot of changes have been seen in the country; although these changes are not always welcomed by all sectors.
Last Thursday, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) released new bills bearing Pres. Duterte’s signature! Take a look at this picture of a Php100 bill with his signature:

While the newly released bills now feature Duterte’s signature, no other changes were made on the currencies. Many of his supporters wish, however, that the Php500 bill bearing the images of former Pres. Cory Aquino and her husband Ninoy Aquino would be replaced with something ‘more appropriate’, such as an old hero perhaps.
Meanwhile, the BSP reminds the public that they only have until the last banking day of December 2016 to exchange their old banknotes at any BSP office and branch or at any authorized agent banks because the banknotes from the old series will no longer have value by January 1, 2017.
So, it’s time to break your alkansiya and have those old banknotes replaced now before they won’t have any value and even your Php1,000 bills will just be as good as play money…
