Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has a different story to tell, however; according to the police chief, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte knew about Marcos’ burial schedule.
He told reporters, “Alam niya. Alam niya iyan. Hindi naman siya maba-blind. Wala naman tayong special attention dito. Wala [namang special instructions from]. Maniguro lang tayo na peaceful iyong paglibing. Walang gulo na mangyari.”
(He knows. He knows about it. He’s not in the blind over it. But we didn’t have instructions to give special attention to this matter. We’re just trying to make sure that the burial will be peaceful.)
According to Dela Rosa, the decision to bury Marcos on Friday only came late Thursday.
