
Manny Pacquiao is definitely the best boxer in Philippine history – and even in his amateur days and early fights as a professional boxer, he already has lots of fans.
Many Filipinos are huge supporters of Pacquiao, including now President Rodrigo Duterte.
An old video has surfaced of then Mayor Duterte attending and cheering in the fight of Pacquiao as he defended his IBF World Super Bantamweight title against Thai Fahprakord Rakkiatgym. The fight happened at Rizal Memorial Colleges Gym in Davao City, southern Philippines on October 26, 2002.

Duterte was seen cheering as the young Pacquiao knocked down Rakkiatgym four times during the first round!
It was later revealed that Duterte was actually among those who helped organize the fight in Davao and some of Pacquiao’s early fights! We now know that their friendship started even way back when they were both just local guys – and they certainly had no idea how big and famous they would become many years later…
