Myrna Pasacao Buenaobra, 36, of Rodriguez, Rizal had only gone to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Friday morning, November 25, to meet up with a friend but ended up with a baby when another woman left her the child but didn’t come back again.

According to reports, Buenaobra is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW); thus, when she met 36-year-old Vilma Lastima (an OFW from Jordan) at the NAIA, they immediately hit it off and chatted. Lastima revealed that she and her 3-month-old son Ashan had arrived the previous night from Amman aboard an Etihad Airways flight.
“I’m a friendly person. We just started having a chat even if I did not know her. She told me she lives in Davao and had nowhere to stay here (in Metro Manila),” Buenaobra revealed. “I offered for her to stay at my home temporarily because I was concerned for the baby and she seemed to really need a place to stay.”

Lastima gratefully accepted the offer but as the two waited for Buenaobra’s friend to arrive, the former left baby Ashan to run an errand and promised to return within 30 minutes. Buenaobra teased the mom that she might not come back for the baby; so, as assurance that she will come back, she left her passport and the baby’s travel documents with Buenaobra before leaving – but she never did come back!
Hours after waiting for the mom to come back, Buenaobra had no choice but to report the matter and ask assistance from the Airport Police Department (APD). Upon checking the child’s documents, they discovered that, indeed, he is Lastima’s son and that he was born last August 30 in Amman, Jordan.
The documents also showed that Lastima is from Maco, Davao del Norte.
