Marcos’ Body in Mausoleum, Real or Just a Wax Figure?

With the Supreme Court (SC) approving the burial of former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Cemetery of Heroes), netizens are not just debating whether he deserves to be buried there considering the many atrocities committed during the Martial Law, there is also a debate on whether the body at his mausoleum was actually his or just a wax figure.

While the body at the mausoleum is touted to be one of the world’s best preserved corpses and is displayed in a full glass coffin much like Sleeping Beauty, many scoff at that claim and say that the former dictator’s body had actually long been buried in a secret location and that the one on display is merely a wax figure.

What do you think?

Well, netizens are torn over what to believe especially because the body in that glass coffin does look too perfect for a corpse of a person who died over 25 years ago! Surely, his body would have decomposed to bones, right?

In a recent interview with ANC’s Headstart, the late president’s daughter, Governor Imee Marcos, insisted that the body in that mausoleum is that of her father.

So why does it look like a wax figure and still hasn’t decomposed decades after he died? Well, the secret lies in the embalming process since Marcos was reported embalmed by Frank Malabed who assured the family that the body will remain intact for 20 to 25 years. After that, Marcos’ cadaver will begin to slowly decompose just like everyone else’s dead body.

It seems that the Marcoses now have to ensure they bury the late president soon… What with SC’s approval and the go signal from Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, it seems that the final date will be released soon. Let’s wait and see…
