A heartbreaking video of a girl crying hard and having an emotional meltdown as the family bids goodbye to the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) dad outside Davao International Airport has gone viral on Facebook.
Posted by Icar Yves Buchorno Perdido, the child’s mother, the video shows the 5-year-old kid crying because she does not want her daddy to go. She tried everything she could to make him stay, including raining him with hugs and kisses, crying hard to make him change his mind, and eventually using reverse psychology but, of course, all those failed because her dad really had to fly and work abroad.

Perdido shared the heartbreaking moment on Facebook, writing, “I hope one day in Duterte’s administration, Filipinos will no longer need to work abroad instead dito na mag trabaho sa sariling bansa natin.” (…instead, find work here in our own country.)
To date, Perdido’s post received over 8 million views just 2 days after she posted it on Facebook. Many of the commenters said they could relate with the situation since they are also working away from home and their family members also cried hard at send off.
Working away from the family is truly a difficult thing – and we salute everyone who’s out there, sacrificing everything for the welfare of their families!
Some people believe that it was just too much to bring the kids to the airport. Other OFWs suggested that the next time dad flies back to his work, the kids should not be brought to the airport and should be distracted someplace else so they wouldn’t have to undergo the trauma this girl had gone through in this video.
Do you agree with that or should kids really be made aware of their parent’s departure and spend what remaining time they could together as a family?
OFW LIFE: My 5-year old daughter’s love to her daddy!
Heartbreaking moment of my daughter and husband at Davao International Airport .Eto talaga ang nakakalungkot sa mga OFW parents pag bumabalik na sa ibang bansa. I hope one day in Duterte’s administration, Filipinos will no longer need to work abroad instead dito na mag trabaho sa sariling bansa natin.
