
Personally led by Social Welfare Sec. Judy M. Taguiwalo, the relief operations to the areas hit by Supertyphoon Lawin continue. Even the president also went to some of the affected areas to check on the condition of the people and to distribute additional relief goods to the affected families.
According to an infographic posted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), a total of 576,483 persons from 120,584 families in 2,105 barangays had been affected by Lawin. With 5,348 houses totally damaged and 31,659 houses partially damaged, there are currently 39,358 people coming from 9,519 families still staying in the 224 evacuation centers across the affected areas.
To date, Php14,072,830 worth of relief assistance has been provided to these families. According to the infographic, standby funds currently amount to Php514,522,233.18 while the total number of family food packs available is 260,928; the total amount of stockpile and standby funds is Php851,184,783.42.

Netizens applaud the DSWD’s transparency for having released this partial report even as relief operations continue in the affected villages.
