Known as staunch critics of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, celebrities Cynthia Patag and Jim Paredes are in hot water after they figured in spreading a false story about a **** man who supposedly was a victim of the president’s drug war; however, the man’s family later refuted the story and slammed the two as well as their other family and friends for spreading the rumor.
In her post on Facebook, Cynthia wrote the following:
Although she later deleted the controversial status, a lot of netizens had already gotten hold of a screenshot and are not likely to make her forget about doing it anytime soon!
In anger over the false story, Iwi Laurel, the wife of the man who figured in the story posted her own status on Facebook to address the rumors. While Iwi’s post was toned down despite the clear anger, her daughter Nicole wrote a fierce post on Facebook to directly accuse the ‘yellow idiots’ (an apparent reference to Liberal Party supporters) who spread the false story.
Seeing that his wife had figured in the controversy as she was named by Cynthia as the source of the false story, Jim tried to make amends with Nicole by telling her that his wife had not meant for the story to come out in public but Cynthia had shared it online.
