LOOK: Son of Poor ‘Habal-Habal’ Driver in Mindanao, Tops Mechanical Engineering Board Exams!

Garnering an overall rating of 90.15%, Elso Umbao Elumbaring, Jr. of Notre Dame University in Cotabato City in Mindanao, southern Philippines, topped the recent Mechanical Engineering (ME) Board Exams! Only 3,110 passed the ME Board Exams out of 4,470 – and Elumbaring is the one lucky enough to top the batch!

Two other Mindanaoans also graced the Top 10. Third placer Donato Lecera Juayang Jr. of Mindanao State University – Marawi City got a rating of 89.35% while Nichol Ivan Giguiento Allawan of Ateneo de Davao University got a rating of 88.70%.

The second placer is from Sorsogon Stage College – Sorsogon: Edcel Reblora Fortes who got a rating of 89.40%.

Aside from topping this batch of new Mechanical Engineers, Elumbaring has gone viral on social media after it was revealed that his father is a ‘habal-habal’ driver who had to struggle extra hard to send him to college!

Despite being poor and lacking the means to have all the educational needs that others had, Elumbaring rose over the challenges and made his dad proud!
