She comes from a poor family whose breadwinner (her 41-year-old mom Mecil Ybañez) could barely afford to provide for her immediate financial needs while she studied, but 21-year-old Danie Mae D. Ybañez did not let these challenges bring her down.
Instead, she studied hard so she would pass the course and, afterwards, the Chemist Licensure Board Examination but little did she know that not only will she pass the board exams, she will also rank third!

According to Danie Mae, she was riding on a jeep in Cebu City when she learned that she passed the board exams. As she silently celebrated and cried tears of joy aboard the jeep, she rechecked the list and noticed that she was on the list of top 10 examinees!
With a rating of 90.75%, Danie Mae ranked third on the board exams and has surely brought honor not just to her family but also to her alma mater, the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City where she graduated from the course of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
A native of Barangay Kalawisan, Lapu Lapu City, Danie Mae graduated as first honorable mention of her elementary batch from Lapu Lapu City Central School. In high school, she graduated valedictorian from Mandaue City Science High School.
Now that she’s passed the board exams, Danie Mae plans to pursue her doctorate degree in United States of America (USA) as her alma mater USC has a partnership program with a US school.
