“You see, people constantly send me material to post on my Facebook wall for a wider reach. I received the PM from, Lydia M. Paredes; it was a simple case of “wrong send.” Normally, I wouldn’t have posted it since I didn’t know the Titas, Titos, cousins, anybody in your family. But I thought Lydia wanted it posted, and I think highly of her, so I posted it,” wrote Cynthia Patag to defend herself after she got bashed on social media for posting that the late Noli Asencio was a victim of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s drug wars.
She addressed her apology to Asencio’s wife and daughter, Iwi Laurel and Nicole Laurel Asencio.
But people think that the apology was too late – and that she should never really have posted the status. Also, the apology seems to be half-hearted, especially because she said that the message was just a “wrong send” and mentioned that the “DU30 hyenas” were feasting on her on their walls. Also, she accused Rappler of maligning her.
Cynthia clarified, however, that she has no malice in her and that the wrong post was truly just an honest mistake.
As expected, her post was met with mixed reactions – with her fellow LP supporters praising her for owning up to the mistake while Duterte’s supporters say that she’s just saying sorry because she was bashed on social media.
