News of Sara Duterte’s triplet pregnancy brought cheers (although also jeers) across the nation when it was announced a couple of weeks ago. While the family’s supporters rejoiced the babies as a blessing for her dad, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, their bashers were also quick to call the announcement as publicity stunt.
Sadly, the triplets have been reduced to a singleton pregnancy as the identical twins had lost their heartbeats – possibly due to the stress brought by the deadly blast that hit the night market last Friday.
When Duterte announced the pregnancy, she indicated that the doctors had advised her to rest and avoid crowded places as she might contract an infection which could be dangerous given her ‘difficult’ pregnancy.
After the night market blast, however, the mayor led the memorial service at the blast site and personally visited the victims and their families. She also met with relevant officials tasked to solve the bombing incident.
