Wherever in the world you will travel to, it can be easy to spot a Filipino. From travelers to permanent residents and workers, you can find many Filipino communities in the countries in the Middle East, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Australia among others.
An Overseas Filipino Worker, who worked in South Korea, has gone missing for two years. His family has been waiting for him to get in touch with them, but since 2016, their communication was cut short for no apparent reason. They don’t know what happened to him nor why he stopped calling or sending them messages.
The Long Wait is Over
The long wait for the family is finally over — unfortunately, he won’t be able to come back to his family alive. The remains of the missing Filipino worker has been found inside a septic tank in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
According to the international news agency Yonhap News, the authorities and experts confirmed that the remains of a dead person found inside the septic tank is from a Filipino. They also said that the victim might be in his early 30s when he died. It is possible that he was working in a factory at the time of the incident.
The authorities believe that the person had gone missing for more than two years since 2016. The Hwasung police also confirmed that the cadaver has been found inside the tank near the place where the Filipino worker was working.
The South Korean authorities would like to coordinate with the victim’s family in the country to confirm his identity. Currently, the police are now investigating the case. There are three suspects who are allegedly responsible for the crime.
Meanwhile, the Embassy and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Korea are already informing the authorities in the Philippines about the progress of the case.
